Hi…

My name is Allan Erickson and I am a photographer/writer living in Oregon. Photography is the vocation I love. It is work, but it is labor like lovemaking or baking or reading a good book. Only this… I can get paid for.

I’ve been doing photography since I was a child. I was trained in the US AIr Force as a photo equipment technician, a photolab tech and as a photographer. I’ve done newspaper work, worked in commercial studios and labs and am just now – at almost 60 – getting started.

Digital photography opens a whole new world for me. Film was limiting – the time, expense and toxicity of the process all constricted my shooting volume. Now I shoot hundreds of images a week and my sole expense (more or less) is my time. I can also be found at the Morning Donut, my blog about my life here in Oregon.
